Changes?

Tonight I created a wordpress blog....I think I'm going to be switching over there.  I think?  Is this just going to create problems and I will lose the few readers I have???  All I really want to do is password protect my posts....I feel like I've been too casual in posting pics and giving out personal information.  Any of ya'll that have switched to a different blog site please tell me did you loose readers?  Did you have regrets?  How did you do it to make a smooth transition?  How do new readers find your blog and gain access?  What should I do?  Starting off the new year feeling indecisive....

  1. I just made the switch to a different blog. It couldn't have been more unplanned & awkward. Only some readers have followed but I'll just do the "leg work" and get the word out. I'd like to keep following if you change and/or PW protect.

  3. When blogs I follow move to password-protected I never follow as I am usually a silent stalker and never feel confident enough to ask for a password...

  5. Ugh, tough choice. When I went private it was relatively smooth since I didn't switch blog sites. I gave a few weeks warning to try and give everyone a heads up. I went from 100+ readers a post to about 25 and half of those don't comment. The only way to get new readers that I know of is to leave a comment on a blog asking if they want to follow. I have to add each individual email address of followers. Unfortunately there is no way for them to contact me if they find my URL as it says the blog is private and to contact the owner, but they can't contact me unless they know my email.

  6. I still follow the blogs that went private, but less frequently as the new posts don't come up in my reader to remind me. Every now and then I think 'how is so and so doing' and click over to read the last couple of months posts. Its a conundrum - we want privacy but we want to be heard! In any case, I'll still be reading where ever you are.

  7. I had to shut mine down. I do like Wordpress though and was thinking about starting a twin mummy blog over there.

  8. I started a Wordpress blog so that I could password protect my posts as well. I posted about it on my regular blog, but I think only a small percentage of my regular readers moved over. The biggest problem is that people would comment saying they wanted the password, but then I had no way of contacting to give it to them (they were no-reply bloggers.) I think losing readers is just part of moving over blogs, unfortunately. I'll definitely keep reading, though!

  9. I agree with what everyone else said! If you put in the leg work, I think most of your readers will follow you over. I know I will!
